Out West

As a young man I wanted to test out my youth, head west and go looking for truth
I felt something deep in my heart and my mind, there were others of my kind
And my father gave me a train ticket, he said, “go off and out on your own, but one thing I know about life and its tricks is soon you’ll be coming back home”
So I took to the rails with a bright eyed friend, over hills and flats and mountains
And we got off in Jasper and walked through the town, found a place to lay our heads down
And I wrote in my book of the mountains and the way being far made me feel, and the words that I
Wrote made it seem like a dream, but the dream happened to be real, the dream happened to be real
So we had big adventure and went to the coast, there was a gathering on Sombreo beach
And it seemed everyone that we met on the way, had a secret about life they could teach
And the loved that we shared was magnetic, I could see it in everyone’s eyes
And all around us was magic, from our feet in the sand to the skies, from our feet in the sand to the skies
And there, in the moonlight, there stood a beautiful girl
But she was, not my lover, just a soul to brighten the world
And on the road again with guitars and drums, heavy bags and our travelling thumbs
On and on we learned more and more, I think we found what we were looking for
And we took a plane back to our home town, we were tired and needed some rest
And I heard the words, “welcome back to the east,” but my heart was still living out west
